who we are
ted pallas – a multimedia artist, live media designer and musician whose work explores the organic relationship between people and their machines. he believes that computers are only as cold and lifeless as the people who program them, rather than the other way around. ted’s work has been seen and heard on stages as large as new york state theater (where he occasionally gets to craft sound effects for new york city ballet) and as small as the back space at theater for the new city. his recent focus has been on exploring and developing the role of computers in live performance, experimenting with the use of custom-coded software tools in lieu of expensive proprietary options, most often written in processing but more recently open-ended group’s Field as well, bringing big-budget aesthetics and sensibilities to a small budget community. he plays keys with heroes of the open end and plays as much guitar as his free time will allow – he may be a designer but music and his rhythm are his first true loves. ted was awarded a bachelors of arts in theater and visual arts from fordham university in may of 2008.
luke schantz – blue man visualist, max/msp afficianado and one-man singularity wonder-show. luke’s work has a sense of whimsy that belies the technical complexity of the goings-on we’re seeing. luke has presented at harvestworks and has an upcoming residency with the experimental television workshop. he also really enjoys dr. who.
adam kaufman – a writer. right now he works at the atlantic monthly, but he recently wrote this thing right here, and he works on writing many other, numerous things, too numerous to mention or count. he has interned or worked for: nerve, filter, rolling stone and the fordham observer. adam really, really enjoys thinking and talking about media and culture and other related concepts and ideas in a way that is at once academic and approachable – we think you’ll like him. please note that adam did not write this himself.
